How are we funded?

The Children's Advocacy Center of Guernsey County is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We are primarily grant funded and also rely heavily on fundraising events, private donations, and donations from businesses.

Am I allowed in the interview room with the child?

In an effort to eliminate the stress on the child and allow them to maintain focus on the interview process, we do not allow anyone other than the interviewer in the room with the child. We will make sure they've viewed the room and are comfortable before we proceed with an interview.

Are we part of Guernsey County Children Services?

While we work closely with Guernsey County children Services, we are a separate neutral party whose focus is on the interview process and not investigation or placement of children.

Is the CAC open 24 hours?

We are not open 24 hours. Our primary hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm, however we do make exceptions when needed.

Can I report child abuse to the CAC?

We do not take referrals from the general public. All interviews are referred from Guernsey County Children services or local law enforcement. If you do not know the process, we would be glad to assist you in getting connected with the proper people.

Do Forensic Interviewers have a license?

There is not a license to be an interviewer. You do have to have extensive specialized training and hold a Bachelors degree.

Healing begins with understanding and compassion; together we can create safe spaces for every child and help them find their wings 𓂃 ࣪˖𐀔
